The United States has been the top destination for international immigrants than any other country in the world. With One-fifth of the worlds migrants living there. Immigrants today account for 13.5% of the U.S. population which is around 43.7 million in 2016. This population has nearly triple the share form first recorded data in 1970 (Geiger, A. 2018, September 14). Among these immigrant 49 percent (21,2 million) of them are naturalized citizen. The remaining 22.5 million included lawful permanent residents, unauthorized immigrants, and legal residents on temporary visas (such as students and temporary workers) Hallock, J. (2018, February 27). Holding such a huge number of immigrants in the country U.S.A still work under the Immigration and Naturalization Act (INA) which was formed in June 30, 1968. Some other immigration related laws such as Real ID Act 2005, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Dream Act are made which had very tiny solution for the immigrants living here. Lately President trump had tried to make changes in the law which didnt pass through congress and a travel ban was active for some time. In July 1, 2015, and Kate Steinle was walking with her father on Pier 14 in San Francisco. But out of nowhere, a bullet ricocheted off the concrete and struck the unsuspecting 32-year-old in the back, according to NBC News. She died two hours later in a nearby hospital. Jury found Kates accused killer, 45-year-old Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, not guilty on charges of murder, assault with a deadly weapon and involuntary manslaughter, The Washington Post reported. Garcia Zarate, a Mexican citizen who has been deported from the United States five times, was found guilty of possessing a weapon as a felon. President Donald Trump often talked about Steinles death on the campaign trail, using it to advocate for the construction of his proposed border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border with the aim of keeping out undocumented immigrants like Garcia Zarate (Magness, J. n.d.). Recent study of 2011 by the Government Accountability Office which estimated undocumented immigrants had committed some 25,000 homicides, 42,000 robberies and nearly, 70,000 sex offenses. However, the number of crimes by undocumented immigrants are lower than the native born. Building a wall around the country for illegal entry is not the only solution to control these entrance and crimes (Hors ley, S. 2018, June 22). Next thing that pops up in the mind is deportation. It comes with various impact on the families and communities as well as country which, holds a large number of immigrants. We all know there have been crimes related to immigrated population, but we know native stand pretty high as per the number stands. Even though, we have 45 million immigrants in the past three decades 340,056 peoples have been through deportation. Deportation and building wall will not make U.S. free from the problems of immigration. Instead problems are added to it. The U.S. citizen children that lived with an undocumented parent was 5.9 million according to the census 2010-2014. And about half a million parents get deported by the course of two years. This study shows us that about 1 million children get affected by deportation of their parents every four years. As I mentioned earlier, the problems of mental and healthy states degraded as well as the fact that 273,000 are U.S. born citizen children seems to add more to the problem. Its affect is long term health problems such as anxiety, depression, and many more stress related issues. It also brings children to an economic instability and poor childhood development (U.S. Citizen Children Impacted by Immigration Enforcement 2018, June 04). Typical legal and illegal immigrants come to America primarily for better jobs and in the process add value to the U.S. economy. However, they take advantage of weak national security environment and stay in the country for longer period. When three out of every 100 people in America are undocumented (or, rather, documented with forged and faked papers), there is a profound security problem. The case of American dreams keeps people stay in the country (Johnson, K. n.d.). Moreover, the government has also taking advantage of this. In current day there are many immigrants who work in low wage around the country. Due to lack of proper laws and regulation government losses a great amount of tax money every day. People work in cash and even the price is low for working with undocumented people. A coin always has two sides. American government know the situation of its immigration law. This issue has not only been ignored but also misused. During his campaign, Donald Trump used the issue o f illegal immigration as his point to change for his campaign. According to Trump, Mexico was sending high number of criminals over the border. He called for deporting the 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. However; after the election, Trump accused undocumented immigrants of surreptitiously voting for Hillary Clinton in the general election. He and his attorney general have stepped up deportations, even for traffic offenses. And he has refused to extend the Obama administrations Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which allows the children of undocumented immigrants, who came to the United States through no choice of their own, to avoid deportation. This acts also led to influence the general and native American and their view on immigrants (The Two Sides of Immigration Policy. n.d.). The famous concept claiming immigrants come here take our good jobs and women actually might be wrong. Government knowingly not acting for the reform of this law arises a big question why it is ignored. Every Year people come to the United States with dream of freedom and opportunity. But the current immigration system is broken; Families are separated, immigration workers are exploited , people die trying to cross border, and they face discrimination. Therefore, immigration laws of the United States should be reformed in order to increase economic growth, decrease crime, and acknowledge the benefits of too native people.

D-Day Essay As Supreme Expeditionary Forces Commander, General Dwight D. Eisenhower had the top military men of Great Britain and the United States under his command. These men would help him play out the great plans for the long awaited invasion. Their orders from the Combined Chiefs of Staff were very simple; they were to land on the coast of France and destroy the German armies. The Nazis General Field Marshal Erwin Rommel took many different measures to prepare for the attacks by the Allies. He was the only General under Hitler’s command that believed Normandy not Pas Del Calais would be the invading point (Skipper 42). His troops worked feverishly to strengthen defenses. The entire coastline was littered with land mines. Their beaches had deadly obstacles and their weapons and bases were camouflaged. They felt that on shore they were invincible. By early 1944 almost one million Allied soldiers arrived in the United Kingdom. That brought their total there to almost three million. The Allied airforce strength had grown from a few thousand planes to more than 15,000 planes. The 5,000 bombers were ready to drop over 100,000 bombs. All the available space in Britain was used for storage. Newly thoughts up ideas were in the makings to be used at Normandy. One idea was to create artificial harbors on the coasts of Normandy. They would use heavy machinery to break German obstacles and destroy mines. These new ideas would be very useful in aiding Allied troops. The men themselves were trained under conditions that would be similar to the ones they would soon be fighting at. These exercises were different from the ones they had known in the US. Troops continually worked at operating as a whole with other infantries. In some cases the men were even toughened up by having sessions of hand to hand combat. Paratroopers were also mentally and physically toughened up for their missions. The thirteen thousand plus men were said to be the greatest up to that time. The heavy air attacks on the Germans coal railroads began in April of 1944 nearly two months before the actual invasion. These attacks were the first steps in the disruption of the Nazis communication centers. The three days that the Allies thought would be best for the invasion were the 5th, 6th, and 7th of June. If the weather did not meet their standard they would have to postpone the invasion. They believed that if they had to postpone the invasion that the consequences would be terrible. On June 1st and 2nd the troops left their camps and headed straight for the Forts of embarkation. They were transferred under heavy surveillance of the military police. The day before the scheduled attack the weather turned terribly bad. General Eisenhower soon decided that the attack would have to be postponed. The weather soon cleared and the decision was made to go ahead with the act on June 6th. The first men to see action would be the paratroopers from the American 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions who were scheduled to drop behind enemy lines (Skipper 53). To move the 175,000 troopers across shore over 4,000 ships were used. Weapons and artillery were also boarded onto ships so they could aid the troopers once they landed. At the end of June 5th the preparations for the invasion had been finished. Air fighters were used to knockout key points that were to seal off roads and highways to the shores. They were also very useful as scouts. Next gliders were to be sent carrying soldiers and anti tank weapons before the troops had reached the shores. There were serious loses due to the fact that the fields where they were forced to land were so terrible. Sainte-Mere-Eglise was the first German town to be captured by paratroopers. The unexamined life is not worth living, proclaims Socrates. He could have meant many things by this statement, and in relation to the play, the meaning is found to be even more complex. Indeed, the situation of Oedipus, king of Thebes, the truth of this statement is in question. Would Oedipus have been better off if he was blind to the knowledge of his birthing and the fate which was foretold to someday befall him? Truly though, his life would have been a far better and easier path had he never known about his true origins. His life in Corinth would have been long and prosperous, and Thebes would have lived on under King Laius. In fact, everyone would have been better off in the long run if Oedipus had not ventured out beyond the walls of Corinth. So is it worth living an examined life? Socrates had made this statement long after the creation of the Theban Trilogy. In the context of his own time, this was meant to imply that life must be examined and reflected upon, known and discovered by each individual philosopher to better enrich life for all. Yet in terms of Sophoclean drama, specifically Oedipus Rex, this was meant in a vastly different way. The unexamined life was one that was in the dark, unknown as to what fate lied beyond every turn and irony of living. Oedipus, up to the point in which he heard the comment in the tavern in Corinth, lived an unexamined life. To Socrates, he was an unfulfilled man, one who deserved to know more, one who not complete. However, in a much less metaphysical sense, Oedipus' life was complete, in that he had all that he needed, and was living a happy and fruitful life. As the drama progresses, he finds out more and more, learning exactly what the implications of his birth was, he suffers the fate for examining his life. So what Socrates had meant, that the life which was not rich with self exploration and reflection was not worth living, was indeed different than its application in terms of Oedipus, who's life was unexamined, yet complete. The question arises, what would life have been like, if Oedipus had not discovered his true origins? If he had stayed in Corinth, would this have ever happened? We find that indeed, we would have had no story, if not for that lone comment of a drunkard which sparked the fire of rebellion in the young prince Oedipus. He ventured out to Delphi, to pry knowledge of his background out of it, and to discover if this was indeed the truth, despite the fact that his adopted parents of Corinth had assured him of it falseness. Oedipus leaves Corinth, fulfilling the Socratic idea of the unexamined life. However, we must evaluate the eventual consequences of his actions and the implications which they possess. What becomes of his fateful journey out of Corinth leads to the downfall of an entire city and family line. If he had not murdered King Laius, the Sphinx would have never descended upon Thebes, he would have never fulfilled the prophecy, and all would have lived on in a relative peace and tranquillity. Once examining these aspects of the relationship between the quote and Oedipus Rex, we can come to a final examination of its implications. The question which was addressed, that of the value of the examined life, can be answered. Indeed, if Oedipus had not ventured beyond the protective walls of his adopted home, would anything such as what occurred in the play ever have transpired? If Oedipus had not pursued that answers to the mysteries that plagued him, despite the pleading warnings of I?casta, in fact his life would have been contented and happy. Instead, he follows the Socratic method of exploration and discovery, and proceeds down the path of pain and distraught. Was, after it was over, all worth it? We find that no, it was not. Being content and suited with what he knew of himself would have saved Oedipus and his children/siblings much agony. However, in the typical Greek tragedy, we must see his fall from grace through, which is indeed what happens. In the bliss of ignorance, much pain and difficulty is averted.
